Making Tooli move

The Manual Move screen gives you lots of option to help you move your Tooli toolhead.

The screen has three sections which we will seperate for the purposes of explanation.

XY jog move

X Y Jog Move

The radio buttons allow you to choose an incremental move. The arrow buttons allow you to select the direction of the move - and action the move. Example: To move the toolhead 100mm to the left check - the the '100' radio button then click the arrow that points left.

The left and right arrows move the toolhead across the gantry (X-axis) and the up and down arrows command the Y-axis, the up arrow sends the toolhead toward the back of the machine, the down arrow to the front. Example: To move the toolhead 10mm to the toward the front of the machine, while the toolhead remains in the same position on the gantry (x-axis), check - the the '10' radio button then click the arrow that points down.

The radio button labelled 'END' will send the toolhead to the end of the axis in the direction you choose. Example: To move the toolhead all the way to the back of the machine, while the toolhead remains in the same position on the gantry (x-axis), check - the the '100' radio button then click the arrow that points up.

Coordinate Move

Coordinate Move

In this area there are two numeric input fields, one for the X coordinate and one for the Y coordinate. To move to a specific coordiate in the work area input your desired X and Y coordinates - the click the'Move to XY coordinates' button. See the diagram to help understand how coordinates effect position.

Once you have the machine at the desired coordinates it is an option to set the coordinates as the job origin. The job origin is the furthermost front-left extent of the job in the work area. The job origin is set by default at X0,Y0 - which is the Tooli 'machine origin' (the furthermost forward and left it can go). To offset job origin to the current position click "Set Origin'. To remove the offset and reset the origin to the default X0, Y0 click 'Cancel origin'.

Note: Typically you wouldn't need to change the Origin except for in special circumstances - for example; your GCode is set up to run in the front-left corner of the work area, but the subtrate has some imperfections on the front-left corner of the sheet which you don't wish to be in your artwork, in this instance you could change the Origin to X,100 Y,200 this would mean the job would be offset 100mm to the right and 200mm back from the front of the work area - avoiding the imperfections in the work surface.

Z move

Z move

The Z Move area has one numeric input field which allows you to specify the distance up from zero. Tooli's Z-axis has a 10mm stroke - this means the tool can move up and down a maximum of 10mm. To put the tool to be fully enter '0' in the numeric input field and click the 'Move Z' button. To raise the tool fully to the top of it's stroke enter '10' in the numeric input field. Half way down would be '5' and so on.

The radio buttons are available to conveniently select commonly used increments that the user is likely to use when setting the tool height (more about this in the Tooli Operation section).
